You must have added several tiles trying to form words on the Scrabble board. However, you still missed out on one crucial thing.

You didn’t notice the color of the middle square on the Scrabble board. What color do you think the square has?

1. Official Scrabble Board Design

We don’t have a straightforward reply to the question on the topic. You might have seen a range of colors on the board game. They add a touch of excitement to the Scrabble game and include:

  • Premium squares
  • Double-word score squares
  • Triple-word score squares
  • Triple-letter score squares
  • Double-letter score squares

However, the color of the center square is still a mystery to a Scrabble Player.

2. The Color of the Middle Square

The color of the center square varies on different Scrabble boards. The original board was wooden and had a light brown or beige color.

As a result, the middle square and the Scrabble tiles also had the same color.

However, modern boards can have various colors. The choice depends on the manufacturer of the product.

The center cell can be of many colors, from bold shades to light pastels. You may see a:

  • Pink square
  • Dark red square
  • Dark blue square
  • Yellow square

The edition of the Scrabble you are playing also determines the color of the middle square.

3. Significance of the Middle Square in Scrabble

The middle square on the Scrabble board is the focus of the whole game. It is where you start your first word.

The remaining players create their own words based on the words formed in this square. The cell has a star on it to show its importance.

Most importantly, it is a double-word cell. The value of the entire word on the square will double.

The center square is a vital position in Scrabble.

The article talks about the color of the middle square on a Scrabble board. I, as someone new to sports, didn’t know this was important. It’s interesting how even small things like this play a role in the game.

t’s confirmed: ‘Zit’ is a valid Scrabble word, scoring 12 points and accepted worldwide. Beyond its gaming value, ‘Zit’ refers to facial spots, particularly in young individuals, serving as both British and American slang for pimples. In the realm of health, these skin elevations can indicate underlying issues. Additionally, you can expand your word repertoire by forming terms like ‘Zither’ and ‘Kunzite’ with the letters in ‘Zit.’ Embrace ‘Zit’ confidently in your word games, unlocking 12 points in both Scrabble and Words with Friends.

Contemporary boards come in a variety of colours, depending on the producer. Its significance is indicated by a star, and it plays a vital function as a double-word cell, which doubles the value of the full word that is positioned on it.

Yes, that’s about right. The middle square, the center H8, counts as Double Word square. Also the score is doubled to 12 points. The makers of Scrabble, Hasbro, changed the square color to pale red because it is one of those 17 double-word squares. A few photos on the difference between between various colors would have been a good addition.

I always thought that the color of the middle square on a scrabble board was universal. It turns out that it varies from one board version to another. Thanks for shedding light on something I assumed was obvious since that was way far from the truth.
